New bathroom fixtures can consume a significant portion of your remodeling budget, especially if you're replacing your shower and tub. However, replacing your bathroom fixtures does not have to be expensive. Here are a few ways to save money on your fixtures, whether you're planning a large
remodeling project or a few minor changes.

Is it really necessary to replace that tub?
It can be costly to replace a shower or bathtub. If you want to save money on your bathroom remodeling project, ask yourself if you can live with the tub and shower you have now. If your tub is cracked, chipped, or stained, refinishing may be all that is required. Consider a new showerhead instead of a new shower if you want to create a spa-like bathroom on a budget. If, on the other hand, you're already in the midst of a remodeling project that includes tearing out walls and floors, installing a new tub may be a more cost-effective option.
Instead of a tiled shower, opt for a one-piece shower. If you want to replace your shower, a prefabricated unit may be the most cost-effective option. Tiling can be very expensive. And it's not because of the material—because it's of the labor. A tiled shower stall must be handcrafted by skilled carpenters and tilers. And you can't expect to save money by doing your tiling unless you have the skills to ensure the tiling is waterproof.
Instead, consider purchasing a prefabricated shower stall. These typically include a shower pan and three acrylic or fiberglass walls. Some can be disassembled to fit through your front door. They're also simple to install, so you might be able to save money on labor.
Inform yourself about the work you require. Some fixture-replacement jobs are more straightforward than others. For example, while installing a new tub may be costly, replacing the toilet should not be. Before hiring a contractor, do some research on the work you require. This will give you an idea of what should and shouldn't cost a lot of money in labor. Get a second opinion if you have any doubts about the price your contractor is charging.
Do you want something expensive?
Make a concession elsewhere. Even if you're on a tight budget, you may have your heart set on a whirlpool tub or a new steam shower. If this is the case, consider cutting costs elsewhere to cover the difference. If you want that whirlpool tub, for example, you might want to skip replacing your shower. You could also choose to keep your bathroom's layout the same.
Are you redoing your bathroom?
Purchase the fixtures on your own. If you're planning a remodel, learn about the prices of fixtures and faucets. Because he can get a discount from the supplier, your contractor may want you to let him buy your fixtures. While contractors can receive discounts, some will mark up the price for their customers. Know the going rates for the fixtures you're looking for so you can determine whether your contractor is truly offering the best deal. It may be more cost-effective for you to purchase the fixtures yourself.
Look in unexpected places. New fixtures can sometimes be found for a low price at auctions, estate sales, and even thrift stores. If you want to go for an antique look, this is a great option. If you buy used fixtures, you may need to have them restored, but it may still be less expensive than buying new ones.
Don't scrimp on the faucets. Buying faucets on the cheap is usually a bad idea. Your faucets contain moving parts and can sustain significant wear and tear over time. It's best to buy them new to avoid having to replace them after a few years.
Can't seem to find a good deal?
Look on the internet. There are some excellent online stores where you can purchase bathroom fixtures. Online stores frequently have larger selections and lower prices than traditional stores, and you can shop around and compare prices without having to drive to different locations. Look for an online store that has been in operation for at least a year, and you should be able to find what you're looking for at a reasonable price.
It is not cheap to redesign your bathroom. However, your fixtures do not have to break the bank. Know the going prices for what you require, be knowledgeable about the work that needs to be done, and doesn't be afraid to shop around for the best deals on your own. This way, you should be able to get a bathroom you like at a reasonable price.
If you want my opinion on a shower pan, I recommend New Surface, which did my Shower Pan Refinishing in Rancho Cordova CA recently. They have exceeded my expectations. Their employees' work styles are very impressive.
